Rosie Yates

Walking and drawing
One of the reasons I documented Rosie's artwork was its ambiguity. The instructions: draw a continuous line and do not look at the paper, while in the original case were in the context of walking in the station, could easily be repeated in other environments. For this reason I chose to repeat the process in my sketchbook in the studios and on the spine. While never explicitly instructed, I chose to draw aspects of the environment as they shifted and changed.

It did strike me that it would be interesting to investigate other interpretations, therefore, I did two further larger drawings, one stationary and observing the environment as I saw it and the other running, not trying to represent anything visually, but track the movements of my pen on the paper and the forces acting upon it.
